Receiving and Quarantine - Pricing – Quarantine Rederivation Program

The costs for quarantine are based on a cage cost/day, the technical procedures carried out, and any required animal purchases. The total rederivation cost depends on the age, genotype and number of animals received. A cost estimate will be provided upon request to the departmental secretary or manager.
In general, it will take approximately 10-12 weeks to receive rederived mice if sufficient numbers of the optimal age (3-4 weeks for females and 8 weeks for males) animals are received or can be purchased.
In extreme cases (e.g., a strain homozygous for a mutant allele in which one six-month-old breeder pair is received), a colony may have to be built before attempting the rederivation. This can add 2 months or longer to the procedure.
