CALLBACK PAY POLICY
This policy describes supplemental compensation for nursing professionals that are required to return to the work site during non-scheduled hours to provide services directly to patients.
DEFINITION
Callback Work is time worked outside regular scheduled work hours when an employee is required to return to work after having left the work site, or is called to work on a day not normally part of the employee’s schedule. Callback work is intended only to cover direct interaction with patients.
Callback Occurrence is a period of three (3) hours or less during which an employee is required to return to the worksite to interact directly with one or more patients. A callback occurrence begins when the employee reports for duty and ends when paperwork associated with the patient encounter(s) has been completed.
CallBack Payment is a flat rate of $100.00 per callback occurrence.
Eligibility:
Callback pay may be approved only for full-time exempt nursing professionals.
PROCEDURE
When an employee is called back to the work site (as defined above) in order to interact directly with a patient, he/she must record the date, time of arrival and departure and name(s) of patient(s) seen on his/her time card.
If during the callback event the employee is required to remain at the work site for more than three (3) hours due to interaction with multiple patients or patient-generated delay, additional callback payments may be approved by the supervisor. No more than three (3) callback payments may be approved within any twenty-four (24) hour period.
The supervisor must verify the patient encounter(s) and approve callback pay on the employee’s time card.
