Overview of Support Services at the NCI-Frederick
Computer Support at the NCI-Frederick is chiefly the responsibility of two groups: C&SS' Microcomputer
Support group and the ABCC's Communications group. While not an inclusive list, below is a list of the major support
services available from these two groups. If you need further direction or assistance, please contact the Computer Service

Computer Service Helpdesk
The C&SS Computer Service Helpdesk serves as a central point of contact for end-user support at the NCI-Frederick.

Desktop / Client Support Hardware and software support for desktop computers (Windows, Macintosh,
etc.) and peripherals (scanners, printers, etc.); anti-virus assistance.

E-mail Services Electronic mail accounts and clients; mailing lists.

Site-Licensed Software Microcomputer software freely available to NCI-Frederick employees (such
as Microsoft Office, RefManager, Eudora, etc.)

Network Access Access to the Internet and Wide Area Network (i.e., "connecting"
a computer to the NCI-Frederick network).

Videoconferencing Capabilities
The ABCC Communications group can assist users with both dedicated (such as "PictureTel") and computer-based (such as "Netmeeting",
"CUSeeMe", and "RealPlayer") videoconferencing solutions.

Training and Education Opportunities
Computer Services schedules training for commonly used software and computer-based resources; classes are held on campus and taught by qualified instructors.
In addition, both the Advanced Biomedical Computing Center and Scientific Library hold mission-specific training classes at the NCI-Frederick.
